About eight years ago....

We met Behati when she was still a young plaas meisie from Grootfontein in Namibia. The agency at the time told her that they were too busy see her on that day, i dragged her back up into the agency- took her around- and then organised for her to come back to Cape Town in her next school holidays.

When she arrived back and she walked into the room, my breath was taken away, by her natural beauty. Even more so, because she was so unaware of it.

In those days we were still on film (yes, i know we are getting on... ) and no retouching was really possible unless you scanned the negatives. Behati was bubbly and a natural easy going girl.. her dad was minister, and she was their only child.

After some guidance, the shoot and some chatting her dad then asked to meet with us to discuss a few things..

We set a meeting and

 The one question he asked was "Will she be able to do well and be financially sufficient?"

I responded: " In this business, nothing is predictable, yet all i can say is that we are very sure that she will be a very successful model..."

We discussed the professional attitude a model needs to take in order to reach the top, the travel, the opporttunities, the avoidance of life's pit-falls; much of the same of what we instill into Fan Jam managed models of today...

When the owner Sarah Doukas of Storm London met her in Cape Town, that was the start of the international career..
